![]() At the Vancouver Fishing and Outdoors Show the BCFDF, along with Department of Fisheries and Oceans, presented the "Pathways to Fishing", a program to teach young children (and some not so young) the art of fishing. Here are some pictures of various booths and volunteers taken at the shows. ![]() Booth presentations included fish identification, rod and reel selection, baits and lures, knot tying, angling ethics and safety, handle with care (catch and release), fishing locations in our area, and casting.
Each child was presented with a certificate of achievement, and a tackle box full of goodies from Berkley. In the 3 days of the show we put well over 1000 kids through the program. ![]() This was all repeated at the Fraser Valley Fishing and Outdoor Show, Abbotsford Tradex.
We also did another Pathways Event at Army & Navy dept. store in New Westminster, and seen another 300 kids! Thats approximately 2500 kids that have a better understanding of fishing and proper ethics. All in all this was an overwhelming success, hats off to harry colivas, and wayne goeson for their work in organizing this great event!! |
